BIO

Hermine Anna Sammut
I was born in March 1965 in Vienna, the city of music and art. I grew up in a very creative family, my mother used to design hats for famous ice shows and my father used to be a technical draughtsman, which was the base of my creativity. In 1986 I got qualified as a teacher. Through self-teaching and attending specific courses such as paper making, air brush, folk art, decorative painting, silk painting, stained glass and pottery, I developed my artistic and creative skills and was permitted to teach the subject Art & Craft at schools. I used to teach Art, Crafts & Design and Design of fashion jewellery at a secondary school and in evening schools for adults in Vienna . In 1995 I got married to a Maltese man and moved to Malta.
There I used to lecture  at the Institute of Tourism Studies until 2003 where I also introduced  into the study program the subject: Art, Craft & Design for the hotel industry. After a 2 year working break, caused by my son’s birth in 2003, I became self employed as full time artist.

At the same time I started to conduct courses for tourists where I would like to connect holidaymakers to Gozo in an arty way.
I also participate in & organize exhibitions locally and abroad, showing my contemporary and 3 dimensional artwork, sculptures and jewellery. After having obtained my silver/goldsmith and pottery certificate I like to combine jewellery and artwork, using compositions of different materials. I am still attend several courses at the local art school for further education. At the moment my aim is to reflect, match and harmonize one theme in different media. You are always welcome to contact me , or to come and visit me at my Home Studio-Gallery at Cimcem Str Nadur Gozo. Open any time via appointment: +356 79617746 Hermine Anna Sammut
